coffee 2

Although it is nearly impossible to see from Highway 98, there is a new cafe named the Brilliant Bean Cafe. The marker is that it is next door to the Sherwin Williams store (right side heading into Pensacola, past Winn Dixie).

It is sort of a larger Jitter Bean, more reasonably priced, very good food and coffee. The ‘plain’ coffee I had was from Salvadoran beans and it was excellent. It was $2, but free refills. I had a Reuben without sauerkraut. It included taco chips with a very different dip which was not ‘hot’, but a little piquant. They use only Boar’s Head meats and were not stingy with it. My sandwich was $6.50 and I could have taken half home (I didn’t, but I could have). Barb had the day’s special, “Turkey Dressing”. It included a salad and she raved about it. She DID bring about half home.

The tables are glass-topped with comfortable chairs. The space is divided with a regular dining area on one side and a lounging/reading/relaxing area on the other. Several artists display their work and there are books and magazines for reading. You may even find an artist working on a painting.

The one unfortunate point is that even though it is new, it is not easy to see, but somehow it has already generated a good following that can make parking a little awkward. They have Wi-Fi, but bring your own laptop. It was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The atmosphere and personnel were very pleasant and the prices reasonable.
