A small group met to talk about a book they had all read, “Revolutionary Road” by Richard Yates and recently adapted for the screen starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. There were mixed feelings about the novel that focused on a young married couple in the 1950s.
The discussion was lively and all were anxious to get started on the April selection, “Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen. The group will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 to review the romantic story set in a traveling circus in the 1930s.
The May selection is “Songs in Ordinary Time”, a story about a Vermont family in the 1960s. Check the Lillian-Perdido Bay Library when it reopens or you may call the Bookmobile, 970-4010 or 937-0204, and they will bring it to Spanish Cove for you. The March Bookmobile dates are 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesdays March 17 and 31.
If you like to read, this is a great group to join. Even if you haven’t ready the book, and it is not required, you get an insight into what the readers get out of the books and also find out about others they have read.
Drop in on April 14 at the Cove Clubhouse for a trial visit. The Book Club is not limited to women.
