Hi Judy, Well said! I read the open letter from SC's new attorney and hope the copac does the same. I keep wondering about motivation of the copac, and wonder if the names will be up for nomination of Officers of the Board, or if they consider it good advertising. I surely hope they will not represent Spanish Cove. It is beyond me how a rule can be read in open meeting, published in the UPDATE, and published on Cove Connections, and still be ignored by them. I fail to understand how, after being given full access to SC records, they can manage innuendo. Yes Dick, to hell with the Grinches and Merry Christmas!

Hi Dave, Dick and Judy - agree wholeheartedly. A recent request has been made for more financial information.

COPAC what is your agenda and what do plan to do with all of the financial and other information once you've gathered it?

In my mind no more information should be given to them unless they're willing to provide full disclosure.

Thanks, Judy. And the "loss" number is most likely much smaller than $25,000, but the money we would have to spend to find out which figure is correct would be significant. As I've mentioned in other postings, the "report" produced by CPOC, while it represents a significant amount of work, is nothing more than a listing of credit card expenses that do not have descriptions of exactly what the expense was for, or who made the purchase. They are therefore referred to as "questionable", leaving the reader to assume "improper", "unauthorized", or as some have said, "theft".

Further excursions into POASC records will produce the same result, as the Cove has done it this way for many years. And that wasn't the best way to do things, but it ain't being done that way now! The problem has been corrected. Comprehensive, lasting procedures are being written by a group of enthusiastic volunteers.

The Grinch isn't going to steal MY Christmas! I am proud to be among some of the best folks I've ever met - hard working, civic-minded volunteers and neighbors, none of us perfect, but willing to devote time and effort to the betterment of our community. I say "Merry Christmas" and the Grinches be damned!

While I do not know or have met anyone on this web site (except for Jim Haynes) or CPOC, I agree.

I want to share with all homeowners of Spanish Cove some of my thoughts and feelings. I am currently a member of the Board of Directors. I do not have a MBA, but I have common sense have lived on this earth almost 70 years. Yes, money has been misused in Spanish Cove. The person and or persons involved in this have been relieved of their duties. A new manager has been hired. The Treasurer and the Finance Committee are diligently working to create procedures to make it more difficult for this to happen again. I am sure that EVERYONE in Spanish Cove is disppointed that our trust was broken. But the CPOC is still asking to review records and will probably disribute then again to everyone's mailbox. But I do not understand what this will accomplish. Hiring a forensice CPA to invistigate records back for five years and notifying the IRS that the Cove has not filed proper papers certainly will not help the reputation of Spanish Cove. Let's put it in this prospective: we spend $25,000 to find that the Cove lost approximately $25,000. What has been gained. We bring criminal charges against person/persons involved and over all what has been accomplished? Is just being able to say "I gotta ya" worth all the stress and negativity being placed on Spanish Cove? I just feel that the Grinch has stolen Christmas from our little part of paradise in lower Alabama. Please let there be peace on earth and let it begin in Spanish Cove.
